Research Interests

Nicole's research lies at the intersection of synthetic biology, biosensor technology, and cell-free biomembrane platforms, with a strong focus on health monitoring applications. She is particularly interested in advancing biosensor development by integrating synthetic biological components with supported lipid bilayers and utilizing "cell-free" biomembrane platforms to re-create cellular processes.
